INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL, BUDAPEST.

IBS, as one of the first private business schools of Central Europe, was founded in 1991. IBS maintains its academic excellence in cooperation with its prestigious British partner, The University of Buckingham, one of the leading universities in Britain.
As a result of this all students who successfully complete one of the bachelor or master’s level programs will receive the Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree of The University of Buckingham.
The academic structure of IBS is based on the so-called Bologna system of education that was introduced in most countries of Europe to have a system of easily understandable and comparable degrees and credits. It has two levels, bachelor and master, usually 3+2 years long, but in IBS it is 3+1 years long.
IBS strongly believes that its most important goal is to prepare students well for their business career so the needs of the employment market are incorporated in the curriculum. In addition, all bachelor students can opt for a six-month work placement in the last semester of their studies and gain work experience that is highly valued by their future employers.

WHY IBS?

IBS provides all-important information regarding programs, the career prospects of students, student life and accommodation possibilities.

• British degree: International Business School (IBS) was founded in 1991 and since the very beginning IBS formed close cooperation with a prestigious British university. As a result, IBS students study in English on all Bachelor’s and Master’s programs and upon graduation our students receive the BSc or MSc degree of The University of Buckingham that is accepted and highly appreciated world-wide.

• International Accreditations: Our institution and/or programs not only have Hungarian (Hungarian Accreditation Council) and British state accreditations (British Accreditation Council) but EU (European Council for Business Education) and US accreditations (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) as well.

• Customer focus, personal attention: Being a higher education institution with a relatively small number of students, we can pay special attention to each one of them. Our education methodology focuses on problem solving in small groups and we try to ensure that even the math’s classes dreaded by many students are more or less ‘playful’ and give a sense of success to them.

• Career opportunity – a good investment in future: We consider higher education as a family investment and thus make all efforts to ensure that the energy and financial investment put in academic studies pay off as soon as possible for our placement students and graduates. According to the career path analyses of our graduates, we have good reason to claim that the years spent at IBS prove to be a useful investment indeed.
• A campus that offers everything our students need: We invite you to look around on our homepage, get to know our academic offer as well as the sports and cultural facilities available on and off campus, including fitness, tennis courts, swimming pool, library, restaurants, and most important of all, three residence halls.

• Degree programs; designed with your future career in mind, including internship option in Hungary or abroad

• study abroad option at one of our partner institutions in Europe, which are amongst the best universities and business schools in Europe.

You are very welcome to contact us if you wish to see IBS campus and receive first-hand information about the University.

Grading System and Types of Classes at IBS

IBS applies the standard British system of grading. In this system students are awarded grades on a scale of zero to 100 (per cent). The pass mark at Bachelor’s level is 40, and 50 at Master’s level. Grades over 70 are considered excellent, and grades in the 80’s or 90’s are rarely awarded.
Presence in seminars is mandatory and the list of students is checked every time. The typical group size for seminars is 24. Skills classes have group sizes of approximately 16 students, while language classes are typically taught to 12 students. Teachers will evaluate the student’s seminar performance during the semester by awarding a coursework mark at the end. Students will be required to perform various tasks during the semester which count towards the coursework mark, such as mid-term tests, home assignments or presentations, some of which you will need to complete individually, some in groups. Group assignments serve the purpose of learning to work with other people, who often come from different backgrounds.
Master’s classes are not divided into lectures or seminars: each class is an interactive workshop-type session with a series of various activities: short lectures by the tutor with audiovisual aids on relevant theoretical concepts and their applications in business life, discussions, individual or group presentations held by student(s), case studies, role plays, online simulations etc.
