Budapest University of Technology and Economics popularly known as BME remains the Leader in technical higher education throughout Europe.

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), founded in 1782, is one of the largest higher educational institutions in engineering in Central Europe. Our present activity is based not only on our responsiveness to the needs of a continuously changing world, but also more than 230 years of experience and tradition that provides a guaranteed basis for high-quality studies. This has earned the university an international reputation, attracting students and also professors from all over the world.

More than 110 departments and institutes operate within the structure of eight faculties. About 1100 lecturers, 400 researchers and other degree holders and numerous invited lecturers and practising expert specialists participate in education and research at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Approximately 800 of the university’s 14.000 students are from 50 countries abroad. The Budapest University of Technology and Economics issues about 70% of Hungary’s engineering degrees.

  1. Students have to write placement tests in Mathematics, Physics and English and Freehand Drawing for Architecture students. Students found to have inadequate skills in Mathematics, Physics or English will be directed to the one year Preparatory Course before the B.Sc. programs. AfriLight helps applicants in all processes that are to be under-taken after application which includes:

  • procuring each applicant’s Letter of Acceptance of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The Letter of Acceptance contains the registration number of the applicants, which is necessary for the payment of the tuition fee.
  • Proof of payment: If the tuition payment successfully arrives to the University’s account, applicants will receive a proof of payment.
  • With the Proof of Payment and the Letter of Acceptance applicants should visit the nearest Hungarian Consulate to obtain the entry visa to Hungary.
